MEC Heeds Call by Inkosi Yesizwe SakwaMchunu

Today, MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Rev. Musa Zondi upon invitation from Inkosi yeSizwe sakwaMchunu visited the uMsinga Local Municipality.

This visit was constituted by the Mchunu Royal Authority that sought intervention measures by the MEC at the former Bata Shoe Factory located in Othulwini loZulu in uMsinga.

In his request, Inkosi yeSizwe outlined how this factory once employed hundreds of people from the area and is a result of some households still standing today.

The MEC’s visit was concluded by an oversight visit to the KwaNxamalala farming area,with the purpose of exploring its potential as a future hub for hemp farming.
